Phone key, key card & PIN to Drive

How Tesla keys work β€” digital key is not Tesla-only.

  • Phone key β€” Bluetooth via the Tesla app; walk-up unlock / drive when paired.
  • Key card β€” NFC card on the pillar reader (carry a spare).
  • PIN to Drive β€” four-digit PIN before the car will drive (limits joyrides if the phone/card is taken).
  • Valet Mode β€” separate restricted profile.

Caveat: a digital / phone key is not Tesla-only. BYD Seal MY26 lists Bluetooth / NFC keys; Polestar 2 offers a digital key with Plus pack. See rivals and the Owner’s Manual chapters on Keys / PIN.
