BBC Anti-Tesla Bias Exposed

Ford recalled 12.9 MILLION vehicles in the US in 2025, more than the next nine carmakers combined. Tesla: 745k, 9th place.

Guess which one the BBC covered?

And over 91% of Tesla's "recalled" cars were fixed with an over-the-air update.

More than 80% of Ford's needed a trip to the dealer, including nearly 2.9 MILLION for faulty rear-view cameras that dealers had to inspect and replace.

I can't find a single BBC story on Ford's big 2025 recalls. The most recent BBC "Ford recalls" piece I can find is from 2019.

So a software update for Tesla is news, but millions of Fords heading back to the dealer aren't?

When Tesla's sales are bad, the BBC writes about them. When they're great, it goes quiet.

In 2025, the BBC gave Tesla's Q1 and Q2 numbers dedicated stories:

Q1
2 Apr - "Tesla sales plunge after Elon Musk backlash"
23 Apr - "Musk to reduce Doge role after Tesla profits plunge"

Q2
2 Jul - "Tesla deliveries plummet 14% in second quarter"
24 Jul - "Tesla pledges to make cheaper cars as problems mount"

Q3
A record 497,099 deliveries, Tesla's best quarter ever. Reuters, CNN and AP covered it the same day.

The BBC didn't write about it. The record got one line, five days later, inside a piece about Tesla shares falling.

Four stories about the bad news. One buried line for the record.

February 2024.

The BBC: Tesla recalls 2.2 MILLION cars because warning lights were "too small".

The problem? The font size on the screen.

The fix? A software update, sent over the air while the cars sat in their owners' driveways.
No dealer visit needed.

October 2025.

Ford recalls 1.45 MILLION vehicles because rear-view cameras could show a blank or distorted image in reverse.

The fix? Take it to a DEALER to have the camera inspected and replaced.

And the final fix wasn't even expected until June 2026. That's eight months of reversing blind.

The BBC? Not a word.

A font that's too small is a headline.

Cameras that don't work aren't news?

Tesla's 2026 was full of MILESTONES.

The BBC chose to show you only the BAD news.

Here's what the BBC covered:

January: BYD OVERTAKES Tesla as the world's top EV seller. (Mostly cheaper cars, mostly in China.)

January: Tesla FINED for failing to help UK police. (Its leasing arm didn't name drivers caught by speed cameras. Almost 4,000 UK convictions for the same offence in just two weeks.)

May: a Cybertruck driver goes into a LAKE. (The DRIVER was arrested, not the car.)

June: a fatal crash under federal INVESTIGATION. Two days later, the family SUES Tesla. (Investigators found the driver overrode FSD and FLOORED it to 73mph in a 30 zone. HE is charged with manslaughter.)

August: nearly THREE MILLION Teslas recalled. (A new China rule on door handles, and other brands were hit too. Fixed with an over-the-air software update).

Now here's what Tesla actually achieved:

April: the Dutch regulator approves Tesla FSD Supervised. The FIRST approval in Europe. FSD legal in 8 EU countries.

April: Cybercab, the car with NO steering wheel and NO pedals, goes into production.

January: Tesla starts robotaxi rides in Austin with NO safety monitor in the car.

October: Tesla says its Megapacks are ALMOST SOLD OUT for 2027.

The BBC didn't write about ANY of it.

Every crash, fine and lawsuit gets a headline.

Every MILESTONE gets silence.

That's not news judgement. That's BIAS.

In December 2023, the BBC headline read:

"Elon Musk's Tesla recalls two million cars in US over Autopilot defect."

Sounds like a HUGE job to fix two million faulty cars?

So what was the actual problem? Some drivers weren't paying enough attention while using FSD. Not a fault in the car.

And the fix? Did owners have to take their cars to a service centre?

NO.

Tesla sent a software update over the air while the owners were asleep.

Did you get that picture from the headline?

Yeah, me neither.

April 2025. The BBC: "Tesla sales plunge after Elon Musk backlash."

What the headline left out: Tesla was retooling Model Y lines in ALL FOUR of its car factories for the new model.

Tesla said the same day that the changeover "led to the loss of several weeks of production".

You can't sell cars you can't build.

The BBC did mention it… in paragraph six.

Three weeks later came the Q1 results story. Doge, boycotts, tariffs.

The retooling? Not a word.

So was it a backlash, or a factory changeover? The BBC picked the version that fit their narrative.

Skeletons are cruising round Austin in a car with no driver this Halloween.

The @BBCNews still hasn't written a word about it. Too scared? πŸ’€

2025, the BBC:
"Tesla shares slump after European sales fall."
"Tesla sales plunge after Elon Musk backlash."

2026:
Tesla Europe UP 72.5% in September.
France: 47,609 Teslas in ten months. MORE than all of 2024.

Reuters covered it. The Wall Street Journal covered it. The New York Times covered it.

The BBC? Not a word.

Funny how when the sales fell, the BBC couldn't stop writing about it. Now that the sales are back, not one story.

October 2026, Norway:
Tesla 1,548. Best October EVER, beating 2024. Model Y the best-selling car in the country.

France: 47,609 so far this year. Already MORE than all of 2024.

The BBC ran "Tesla sales plunge after Elon Musk backlash" in 2025.

When it's good news, it's not news on the BBC.
